Hey everyone! I am excited to kick off this blog with a little intro about me and what I’ve been up to lately. This space is going to be your go-to for all things related to my work in digital and social media marketing, as well as updates on my business ventures.

In the upcoming posts, I’ll be sharing insights into my experiences, exploring the dynamic world of digital and social media marketing, and discussing the unique challenges, resources, and opportunities I encounter along the way. Let’s dive in and embark on this exciting journey together!

Background

My dive into the realm of communications and marketing strategically began in the Fall of 2021 when I decided to change my major from Forensics and Psychology to Strategic Communications.

However during my childhood, I was deeply engaged in video editing and technology, starting with creating web shows on an old VCR video camera with my brother and friends. As platforms like YouTube gained popularity, some friends and I started created content on there and had close to 5,000 subscribers at our peak(We got older and became too busy to create content). With time, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat became significant parts of my life. While I’ve always enjoyed digitally connecting people through social media and using it as a resource, I also believe in the importance of taking breaks and disconnecting from the digital world to prioritize mental well-being.

Come Fall 2021, walking into the Communication’s building at UCO just felt right. Each class I took there was a blast, and I made sure to soak up every bit of knowledge and skill I could. Enjoying my studies led me to dive into a heavier workload, and before I knew it, I was proudly holding my bachelor’s degree in strategic communications from the University of Central Oklahoma, just three and a half years after starting college.

During my senior year at UCO, I began working at a marketing agency in Oklahoma City. I gained a lot of real world insight and really got to focus in on marketing tactics for non-profits. Through that agency I also learned a lot about entrepreneurship, leadership, and basic management skills. I decided to part ways with the agency but am very thankful for the added skill sets I learned during my time there. Last year was a big growth year for me, personally and professionally.

The Start of Something Great

When I left my job at the end of December 2023, I immediately turned to online job applications for roles similar to what I’d been doing. Yet, there was this nagging feeling in the back of my mind urging me towards something new. Before long, I found myself fully immersed in building my own business, centered around my passion for digital and social media marketing. My main priority is to craft meaningful experiences and leave a positive impact wherever I go.

Starting a business has been a long-held dream of mine, but I’ll admit, I hadn’t dug deep enough into what it truly entailed. As soon as I made the decision, I reached out to mentors who I knew could steer me in the right direction. Their guidance has been invaluable – I’ve learned about taxes, legalities, and other aspects I previously knew very little about. Today, I feel confident in my abilities and what I can offer my clients.

Since I began sharing my business venture with others, it’s been a whirlwind of activity. Word of mouth has proven to be incredibly influential, underscoring the importance of building connections everywhere you go. Before I knew it, I was scheduling meetings and securing clients. On March 25th, my company, Hamilton Communications LLC, became officially established in Oklahoma. I had specific goals set for the month of March to get me in the position I needed to be to continue on strong. March 29th will mark the official date of all of those first months goals met.

April is just around the corner, and I’m eagerly anticipating what lies ahead. With ambitious goals set for Hamilton Communications LLC, I’m launching this blog to keep myself accountable. While I recognize there’s much more to learn and a journey ahead, I’m determined to keep pushing until I reach the top. For my next blog post, I’m considering sharing a few free resources for fellow entrepreneurs navigating similar paths. Be on the look out for more updates, resources, and tips and tricks on entrepreneurship and marketing!
